The Covid-19 pandemic has contributed to accelerate consumer’s demand for more sustainable products and practices. Moreover, the new mindset has embraced the “less is more” philosophy.
During the pandemic, we have witnessed a sharp decline in demand, a negative impact on travel retail and a shift in purchasing processes towards digital. At the same time, these trends were accompanied by an increasing demand towards higher quality standards and a renewed interest in the values and ethics of brands. In particular, the pandemic has led fashion professionals to question stocks and inventories. Many retailers have been left on their knees due to the lockdowns and have begun to rethink the entire system. They reflected on new sustainable practices to reduce collections and slow down seasonal calendars and even to concentrate on a better analysis of demand.
At AlwaysOn Show we believe in sustainable production and consumption practices and we stand for Slow Fashion.
On our digital platform we select brands marked by exceptional know-how, which have a human approach to the world of production and work. We choose brands characterized by creative freedom and which create beautiful, useful and quality objects.
Their products last over time and are able to support people in many different activities and phases of their life.
Our industrial economy is based on linear approaches of resource consumption ("make-use-dispose") and the fashion sector, particularly fast fashion, is an example of an unsustainable system characterized by the production of garments with lifetimes and very short use.
At AlwaysOn Show we want to oppose this system.
We believe in an artisanal manufacturing production characterized by sustainable and human times.
We believe in the choice of noble and valuable materials.
We believe in the reuse and repairability of products.
A garment is not top of the range if it does not respect these rules and if it cannot be repaired.
The growing interest in Slow Fashion is also driven by this new social generation.
At AlwaysOn Show we undertake to spread these values through our digital platform and on our social media. Our objective is to promote and enhance the sustainability of the products and production methods of our makers and we are working on the creation of a manifesto.
Stay tuned and do not miss out on the next articles on Slow Fashion!
